Esta tarde se entrega el premio FUNDALACE 2015 en reconocimiento a la investigación de la retinosis pigmentaria

Madrid, 21 de octubre de 2016. En el marco de la celebración de las XVIII jornadas de investigación 2016 organizadas por la Federación de Asociaciones de Retinosis Pigmentaria de España (en adelante FARPE) y la Fundación Lucha Contra la Ceguera (FUNDALUCE) esta tarde se hará entrega del Premio FUNDALUCE 2015 en reconocimiento a la labor de investigación en el campo de la retinosis pigmentaria.

La financiación del proyecto atiende a las posibles estrategias terapéuticas que son evaluadas por la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva (ANEP) perteneciente al Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad y un comité asesor formado por oftalmólogos expertos de FARPE y Fundalace. Este año el premio ha recaído en la Jefa de Servicio de Genética Médica y directora Científica del Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de la Fundación Jiménez Díaz Carmen Ayuso García. Los 24.000 euros que recibirá irán destinados al desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación centrado en las causas que provocan las diferentes distrofias hereditarias de retina en colaboración con el grupo del doctor José María Millán Salvador del Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe de Valencia.

En cuanto a las jornadas anuales de FARPE-FUNDALUCE darán comienzo a las 17:30 en el Aula Magna de la Fundación Jiménez Díaz (Av. Reyes Católicos, 2, Madrid) y llevan por nombre ‘Trabajo en red, fortalece la investigación’. La sesión de apertura contará con una mesa presidencial compuesta por el viceconsejero de Sanidad de la Comunidad de Madrid, Manuel Molina Muñoz, el gerente del Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz(HUFJD), Juan Antonio Álvaro de la Parra, el profesor del Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa, la consejera técnica del Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad, Mayte Fernández Campillo y el presidente de FARPE y Fundalace, Germán López Fuentes.

Tras la sesión inaugural se hará entrega del mencionado premio y una breve pausa dará paso a una mesa sobre investigación moderada por José María Millán en la que intervendrán la doctora María Isabel López Molina, médico adjunto del Servicio de Oftalmología del HUFJD, que tratará sobre los 25 años de experiencia de la Unidad de Oftalmogenética del hospital; así como la doctora María Elena Rodríguez González-Herrero, investigadora del Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca y ganadora del anterior premio FUNDALUCE 2014 que dará a conocer las últimas novedades sobre los ensayos clínicos realizados en pacientes con retinosis pigmentaria con células madre mononucleadas de médula ósea. En último término, la doctora premiada en esta ocasión explicará en detalle el proyecto galardonado este año.

Estas jornadas organizadas por FARPE-FUNDALUCE son fruto de un convenio de colaboración con el Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad con FARPE para fomentar la búsqueda de tratamientos paliativos y curación de las distrofias hereditarias de la retina (DHR), principalmente de la retinosis pigmentaria, promoviendo la investigación sobre estas patologías y el apoyo psicosocial a los afectados.
