PRUEBAS jornada GekoLa Jornada se celebró el 3 de Abril de 2014, en la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (en su Parque Científico ), organizado por  OK-Systems, Geko Navsat y El Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad y la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid a través del CESyA.

Se trata de tecnologías complementarias de ayuda a la navegación personal y autónoma a partir del uso de sonidos 3D. Son el resultado de los proyectos de investigación ARGUS (co-financiado por la Comisión Europea), y ATAD (desarrollado en el marco de la UC3M y el Centro Español del Subtitulado y la Audiodescripción (Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad).

El objetivo del evento ha sido motivar un encuentro entre la industria, organismos y administraciones, en el que presentar las necesidades y soluciones tecnológicas de ayudas a la movilidad para personas con discapacidad visual.

Por un lado, ARGUS es un proyecto que pretende ayudar a las personas con discapacidad visual a desplazarse de forma independiente en el ámbito urbano o rural. Para ello se sirve de dispositivos , que usando la tecnología del GPS, tratan de facilitar el desplazamiento de las personas teniendo en cuenta  la velocidad del usuario. El GPS estará ligado a un teléfono móvil. Las indicaciones para el desplazamiento son señales acústicas, recibiéndose a través de cascos externos.

Por otro lado, el proyecto ATAD, es un sistema de detección de obstáculos por visión artificial, que utiliza dos cámaras de estereovisión situadas en unas gafas, captando  las imágénes en profundidad transformándolas en señales acústicas. Estas señales  se reciben  a través de cascos externos ,  permitiendo así seguir recibiendo información del entorno.
 
Además estará disponible una web de usuarios, donde consultar el recorrido eligiendo la ruta más apropiada y  colgar información de  interés sobre lo que podemos encontrar.

El objetivo final es unificar ARGUS Y atad, siendo aplicaciones que podamos poner en nuextro teléfono móvil. Consiguiendo así un dispositivo que cumpla con todos los requisitos para facilitar el desplazamiento independiente de las personas con deficiencia visual.
