La Asociación de Afectados por Retinosis Pigmentaria de la Comunidad Canaria es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro fundada en el año 1992, ante la necesidad de recabar información sobre las Distrofias Hereditarias de la Retina, concretamente, la Retinosis Pigmentaria. Forma parte de la Federación de Asociaciones de las distrofias hereditarias de retina de España (FARPE). Las Distrofias Hereditarias de la Retina son un grupo de enfermedades que afectan al epitelio pigmentario de la retina y se caracterizan por ocasionar una progresiva pérdida de la visión. Actualmente, no se conoce ningún tratamiento eficaz para esta patología, no obstante están abiertas diversas líneas de investigación, algunas de ellas con resultados preliminares prometedores y en fases avanzadas de desarrollo.

Queremos ofrecerles un encuentro solidario donde reunir a cantautores/as que ofrezcan sus trabajos musicales y su tiempo para crear un espacio sociocultural, donde la cultura y la creatividad de la canción de autor, siempre comprometida con los valores del individuo y de la sociedad, sea un vehículo que facilite la información y la divulgación de las patologías descritas anteriormente. No cabe duda que la música siempre ha sido un instrumento para el encuentro, el festejo y la inspiración en los movimientos sociales, es por ello que se ha elegido esta disciplina artística para dar a conocer la Asociación de Afectados por Retinosis Pigmentaria de la Comunidad Canaria, su labor diaria, y ser una excusa para colaborar con Fundaluce, Fundación de Lucha Contra la Ceguera, que destina sus esfuerzos a la promoción de la investigación medico – científica para la prevención , paliación y curación de las enfermedades heredo-degenerativas de la retina.
